About the organization

AI Owners of America is a membership nonprofit being formed as a 501(c)(3). We educate and organize around a simple claim: lawful Americans may acquire compute, possess open-model weights, and run AI on hardware they control, without a general-use permit.

What we are not

Not a PAC. Not a federal lobbying shop in year one. Not a demand that every lab open-source. Not a registry of who runs which models. Not a software platform.

Governance

A founding board of at least three directors. After 18 months or 300 paid members (whichever comes first), members elect the board on staggered three-year terms. The founder is a director, not a chair for life.

Capture lock

Only natural persons are members. No corporate members. No foreign money. No single corporation may give more than 10% of annual revenue. Frontier labs, major closed-API vendors, and hyperscale AI product lines—and their employees, paid consultants, and immediate family—do not sit on the board, officer roles, staff leadership, or the technical council (24-month cooling-off). The technical council advises and has zero votes. Purpose, merger, and the name require a member supermajority to change. On dissolution, assets go only to an organization with the same purpose lock.

Later

A 501(c)(4) Action Fund is planned when there is a paid list, a treasurer, and a real bill. Until then this organization educates and stays inside 501(c)(3) limits. No candidate endorsements on this site.
